The Mississippi Gaming Commission regulates the state’s licensed gaming industry and provides public guidance on legal and illegal gaming activity. Its FAQ explains gambling in terms of consideration, chance and a potential reward of value, while also noting that a game entered without paying consideration is not gambling under that general explanation.
The same guidance states that conventional online casino games are illegal in Mississippi unless an activity falls within a recognized legal exemption or regulated framework. Sweepstakes-style platforms are structured differently from conventional real-money online casinos by separating entertainment currency from promotional entries and by providing no-purchase participation routes.
That distinction does not mean the Mississippi Gaming Commission licenses these sweepstakes platforms or that every promotion is automatically lawful. Operator availability should be treated separately from state casino licensing.
