Fantasy Football

NFL Week 6 brings one of the toughest fantasy lineup weeks of the season so far. The Bengals, Lions, Dolphins and Vikings are all on bye, removing a long list of regular fantasy starters and forcing managers to dig deeper at several positions.

Borderline lineup decisions are especially important this week. Our NFL Week 6 Start/Sit guide for 2026 focuses on the quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers and tight ends who could realistically be sitting on the edge of your lineup.

Last updated: October 14, 2026. Injury situations can change quickly during the week, so check final practice reports and inactive lists before locking in your lineup.
Thursday Night Football reminder: Seattle visits Denver on Thursday night. If you are using Seahawks or Broncos players, make your decision before Thursday kickoff rather than waiting for the weekend.

NFL Week 6 Bye Teams

Four teams are unavailable in Week 6:

  • Cincinnati Bengals
  • Detroit Lions
  • Miami Dolphins
  • Minnesota Vikings

That removes major fantasy names including Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, Jared Goff, Jahmyr Gibbs and Justin Jefferson from the player pool. Managers who normally rely on those players may need to use a streamer or move a bench player into the starting lineup.

Week 6 Quarterbacks: Start or Sit?

Start Jordan Love vs. Cowboys

Love is one of the better Week 6 quarterback plays outside the elite tier. He enters the week with 10 passing touchdowns against only three interceptions and has thrown two touchdown passes in each of his first five games.

Dallas has also been vulnerable against opposing quarterbacks, creating the type of matchup where Green Bay should be able to stay aggressive through the air. Love has a strong QB1 ceiling this week.

Start Matthew Stafford vs. Cardinals

Stafford is coming off one of his strongest fantasy outings of the season and gets another attractive matchup against Arizona.

The Cardinals have struggled to contain opposing passing attacks, while the Rams continue to give Stafford enough weapons to generate explosive plays. He belongs comfortably in the starting conversation for Week 6.

Sit Bo Nix vs. Seahawks

Nix has not provided the weekly fantasy floor managers expected. Outside of one productive performance, his fantasy output has remained modest, and Seattle presents another difficult test.

With this game also taking place Thursday night, there is little reason to force Nix into a one-quarterback lineup if a stronger streaming option is available.

Sit Justin Herbert at Chiefs

Herbert’s talent is not the concern. The problem is the situation around him. The Chargers offense has struggled with turnovers, pass protection and consistency through the opening five weeks.

A road matchup with Kansas City does little to improve that outlook. Herbert is much more difficult to trust than his name value suggests this week.

Week 6 Running Backs: Start or Sit?

Start Rhamondre Stevenson vs. Jets

Stevenson has rebuilt his fantasy value over the past couple of games and could receive another healthy workload against New York.

TreVeyon Henderson’s ankle situation is also worth monitoring. Any limitations for Henderson would strengthen Stevenson’s touch projection further. Against a Jets defense that has been attackable on the ground, Stevenson profiles as a strong Week 6 starter.

Start Javonte Williams at Packers

Williams has combined useful fantasy production with a dependable share of his backfield workload. He has already produced multiple 18-plus-point fantasy performances this season.

Green Bay has also given up plenty of production to running backs. The combination of volume and matchup keeps Williams firmly in starting lineups.

Sit J.K. Dobbins vs. Seahawks

Dobbins produced his best fantasy performance of the season last week, but his workload has not been consistent enough to make him an automatic start.

Seattle has also done a reasonable job preventing opposing backs from posting ceiling games. Dobbins can still be used if bye weeks leave you short, but his Week 6 ceiling looks limited.

Sit Bucky Irving vs. Steelers

Irving is difficult to bench in deeper formats, especially after a big Week 5 performance, but the matchup is considerably tougher this time.

Pittsburgh has shown it can limit even high-volume running backs. Treat Irving more as a lower-end RB2 or flex than a player you automatically build your lineup around.

Week 6 Wide Receivers: Start or Sit?

Start Parker Washington vs. Texans

Washington enters Week 6 with real momentum after a huge performance against Philadelphia. He found the end zone twice and has become increasingly difficult for fantasy managers to leave on the bench.

Houston has allowed several receivers to produce strong fantasy totals already this season. Washington has moved beyond desperation-streamer territory and deserves serious WR2 or flex consideration in London.

Start Matthew Golden vs. Cowboys

Golden has quietly built a useful fantasy floor in Green Bay, and this could be one of his better matchups of the season.

Dallas has struggled against opposing receivers, while the Cowboys-Packers matchup has the potential to produce plenty of passing volume. Golden is a strong flex option with legitimate upside.

Sit Jaylen Waddle vs. Seahawks

Waddle has been difficult to rely on since joining Denver. Outside of one standout game, both his receiving yardage and weekly fantasy production have been disappointing.

Seattle has also been one of the less attractive matchups for opposing wide receivers. Until Denver’s passing attack gives us more consistency, Waddle is better treated as a risky flex than a locked-in starter.

Sit Terry McLaurin at 49ers

McLaurin remains capable of producing a useful fantasy line, but his week-to-week output has been inconsistent.

San Francisco has generally limited perimeter receivers effectively, which lowers the appeal of chasing McLaurin’s ceiling on Monday night. He is still usable in deeper leagues, but there are safer Week 6 options.

Week 6 Tight Ends: Start or Sit?

Start Tucker Kraft vs. Cowboys

Kraft is beginning to heat up after a quiet start to the season. His fantasy production has improved over the past two weeks, and Green Bay’s matchup with Dallas gives him another opportunity to keep that run going.

With Jordan Love also a recommended quarterback start, Kraft offers a useful way to gain exposure to the same passing attack at a thinner fantasy position.

Start Pat Freiermuth at Buccaneers

Freiermuth is back on the fantasy radar after becoming a regular red-zone option for Aaron Rodgers.

Tampa Bay has been vulnerable enough against tight ends to make this a useful streaming spot. Freiermuth carries touchdown upside and is a solid replacement for managers missing their regular starter.

Sit Kyle Pitts vs. Bears

Pitts finally delivered a strong fantasy performance in Week 5, but one productive game is not enough to erase the concerns from the opening month.

Chicago has done a good job limiting opposing tight ends, making this a poor week to chase last week’s touchdown. Pitts remains a volatile option rather than a safe TE1.

Sit Dalton Schultz at Jaguars

Schultz’s role has cooled considerably since his big early-season performance. Target volume has dropped, while Houston has more competition for passes with its receiving group getting healthier and deeper.

Jacksonville has also been relatively stingy against tight ends. Schultz is difficult to justify over the stronger streaming options available this week.

Week 6 Fantasy Defense Streamers

Defense Opponent Week 6 Call
Kansas City Chiefs vs. Chargers Start – The Chargers have struggled with turnovers and protection.
New England Patriots vs. Jets Start – One of the better streaming matchups on the Week 6 slate.
Baltimore Ravens at Browns Start – Strong matchup for sack and turnover upside.
Los Angeles Chargers at Chiefs Sit – Avoid asking your fantasy defense to survive Patrick Mahomes on the road.

Players You Should Normally Start Anyway

Start/Sit advice is most useful for close decisions. It usually does not make sense to bench your elite fantasy players simply because a matchup looks difficult.

Players such as Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Bijan Robinson, Christian McCaffrey, Puka Nacua, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, CeeDee Lamb, Trey McBride and Brock Bowers generally remain in your lineup unless injury news changes their availability.

Week 6 Lineup Strategy

The four-team bye makes Week 6 more about opportunity than chasing perfect matchups. If you are deciding between two similar players, prioritize the one with the clearer workload, stronger target share or more reliable route participation.

Thursday players need to be handled early. Seattle and Denver kick off before most final weekend injury reports are available, so do not leave a Thursday player in your flex spot if you can avoid it. Place that player in the specific RB or WR slot and preserve your flex position for Sunday or Monday.
